What I Got My 4-Year-Old Daughter For Her Birthday

If you have been keeping up with me on Instagram, then you know that my daughter just recently had a birthday and we officially have a 4-year-old!

It’s crazy to think that I have a 4-year-old now.

And that I have been a mom for 4 years.

They say that time flies with kids and that is absolutely the truth.

Even now, it is hard to remember the baby version of my oldest daughter because we have become so accustomed to this version of her.

The one that is always talking, asking questions, and full of so much energy and emotions.

My oldest daughter is inquisitive, observant, and independent.

She reminds me so much of myself and I’m looking forward to watching more and more of her personality manifest.

Last year, I shared some birthday gift ideas when my daughter turned 3.

And of course, I wanted to do the same this year for her birthday in case someone is looking for some birthday gift ideas for a 4-year-old girl.

Here I will be sharing what I got my 4-year-old daughter for her birthday.

What To Look Forward To With A 4-Year-Old

Before I share what I got my daughter for her birthday, let’s talk about this.

What can you look forward to with a 4-year-old?

Because when a child turns 4, they are officially classified as a preschooler.

This is the age that most children are already in preschool or transitioning into preschool.

As most of you know, my daughter just started preschool last month.

I will share some of the posts that I have discussed her experience below for those that may be interested.

But preschool is not the only thing that you can look forward to with a 4-year-old.

If your preschooler is anything like mine, then you have a full-on chatterbox on your hands.

Many 4-year-olds can speak in full sentences, ask questions, and engage in a back-and-forth conversation.

Other things you can look forward to with a 4-year-old based on what I found at Verywell Family are:

  • Starting to grasp how time works
  • Can say both their first and last name
  • Can memorize and recite some words from children’s songs and poems
  • Can skip, jump, and climb
  • Do somersaults
  • Can stand on one leg for 10 or more seconds
  • Can get dressed and undressed without help
  • Learn how to brush their teeth
  • Learn how to pour without spilling much
  • Likely to be very helpful
  • Can detect emotions and comfort those when they are sad or upset
  • Able to adjust behavior based on where they are

So there are so many things to look forward to when it comes to having a 4-year-old.

You might already be experiencing some of these things now with your child.

I know that I am.

It feels like my daughter is on the right track and I want to continue doing what I can to ensure she is developing in the right direction.

There are only a few things that can be a cause of concern that you should consult with your pediatrician about.

Those concerns are:

  • If your child’s speech is unintelligible
  • Not able to answer simple questions
  • Has a hard time following and understanding directions
  • Can’t jump or run
  • Unable to write or scribble
  • Has regressed in previously learned behavior

Now that we know what we can look forward to with a 4-year-old, let’s get into what I got my 4-year-old daughter for her birthday.

What I Got My 4-Year-Old Daughter For Her Birthday

The Analyst Play Kit by Lovevery

The very first thing that I want to share that I got my daughter is The Analyst Play Kit by Lovevery.

You all know that we are big fans of the Lovevery Play Kits.

I have been getting them for both of my girls for the past year and a half now.

And this is the last kit that my daughter will ever get from them.

Their Play Kits are designed for children between 0 to 3 so now that my daughter is 4, she has officially outgrown their play kits.

But just because she has outgrown them, that doesn’t mean that she can’t still enjoy the toys that she has gotten.

The Analyst Kit is great for a soon-to-be preschooler with all its activities.

The toys that can be found in this kit are:

  • Montessori Sensory Box
  • Pattern Match Boats & Cards
  • Stackable Fraction Cups
  • Visual Recipe Cards
  • Color Theory Puzzle
  • First Sewing Kit

I will link the kit below for anyone who may be interested.

Lovevery Organic Nap Mat

Along with the Play Kit, I also received this Organic Nap Mat from Lovevery as well.

This mat came right on time with my daughter starting preschool.

Her class still takes naps so she will be taking this nap mat with her when she goes to school.

This mat comes with the padded mat itself, a blanket, and a pillow.

It easily rolls up which will make it easy to carry and take on the go.

I will link this mat down below.

Melissa & Doug Super Smile Dentist Play Kit

The next thing I got for my daughter is this Melissa & Doug Super Smile Dentist Play Kit.

I had gotten my daughter the doctor kit from Melissa & Doug last year and she absolutely loved it, so I figured that she would probably enjoy the dentist kit as well.

Now that my daughter is 4 and has all of her teeth in, this kit will also come in handy now that she regularly sees a dentist twice a year.

She can familiarize herself with all the tools so that it will be less scary for her when she does go.

Melissa & Doug Doctor Role Play Costume

Along with the dentist play kit, I also grabbed this Doctor Role Play Costume from Melissa & Doug as well.

I had actually gotten her a similliar doctor role-play costume last year but she outgrew it.

When my daughter pulls out her doctor kit, she also likes to dress up and look the part so I knew that I had to replace our old doctor dress-up with a new one.

Melissa & Doug Love Your Look Pretend Nail Care Play Set

Next up is this Pretend Nail Care Set from Melissa & Doug.

As you have probably already figured out, I’m a huge fan of Melissa & Doug toys.

I love the learning and pretending aspect of them.

They are good sturdy toys that last and my daughter really likes them.

Just like the typically girly girl, my daughter is really into girly stuff such as trying to put on makeup and doing her nails and hair.

But since she is only 4, I’m not comfortable with her using real makeup or getting her nails done yet.

So pretend it is for now.

This toy nail set has all things that she would need from nail polish to nail clippers and even a nail dryer.

I know that she is going to love getting to act like she is doing her nails.

Melissa & Doug Wooden Slice & Stack Sandwich Counter

While still on the topic of pretend play, I also grabbed this Wooden Sandwich Play Kit.

And as you guessed, it is also from Melissa & Doug.

My daughter has had a play kitchen since she was 1 that she still plays with.

And last year, we got her a grocery store to add to her playroom.

I like to switch out the food that we keep in there annually.

This year, I opted to get the Sandwich kit because she has been enjoying having and making sandwiches so I knew that this would make a great addition to her kitchen and grocery store.

Melissa & Doug Wooden Play High Chair

The next thing she got was this Wooden Play High Chair from Melissa & Doug.

My daughter loves playing with baby dolls as well as so I know that she will appreciate having the high chair to play with too.

She already has the wooden stroller and wardrobe from Melissa & Doug that she plays with so this is just an addition to her collection.

Another thing that you will notice throughout this list is that I’m just adding to what she already has.

There are a few new things, but mostly she is getting additional pieces to add to her collection of items that she currently has.

Poke-a-Dot Children’s Book: An Alphabet Eye Spy

I don’t always mention children’s books in these gift guides but I wanted to mention one that she was gifted here.

And that is this Poke-A-Dot Alphabet Children’s Book.

I wasn’t even aware that Melissa & Doug had children’s books but apparently they do.

This book is unique in that it combines the “popping” aspect that most kids love while reading and stating the alphabet.

We have been working with my daughter on identifying the letters in the alphabet because she only knows a few.

So this book will be great to utilize as we continue to work on that with her.

Melissa & Doug PAW Patrol Rescue Mission Wooden Dashboard

Switching back to more Melissa & Doug toys, I had to grab this Paw Patrol Rescue Mission Wooden Dashboard.

My daughter loves Paw Patrol so when I came over across this dashboard, I knew that it would be a hit with her.

This dashboard includes a driveable wheel, makes different noises as you press different buttons, and allows your child to experience going on a mission with the Paw Patrol.

This toy has really good reviews and if your child loves Paw Patrol as mine does, then they will surely love this toy too.

Gabby’s Dollhouse Purrfect Dollhouse

And the last thing I got my 4-year-old daughter for her birthday is Gabby’s Dollhouse Purrfect Dollhouse.

I mentioned above that my daughter loves Paw Patrol.

Well, the love for Gabby’s Dollhouse goes much deeper.

She is crazy about this show and watches it every day on her tablet.

She saw the commercial advertising this dollhouse on TV months ago and has been asking for it ever since.

In fact, out of all of the items mentioned here, this is the item that she has been telling everyone to get her.

So of course, we had to get it for her.

This is actually her first doll house so I’m pretty excited for her and I know she is going to love being able to play with this in her room as she imagines going on all kinds of adventures with Gabby and her friends.

.
