What I Got My 3-Year-Old Daughter For Her Birthday
My daughter’s birthday was yesterday so I wanted to share what we got our 3-year-old daughter for her birthday!
First of all, I can’t believe I have a whole 3-year-old!
These 3 years have flown by and I’m so proud of the little girl that we are raising.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I share my silly girl on there quite a bit because she is full of so much personality in a little body.
I have done numerous posts on what it is like being a mother to a toddler, so you all get to hear about her quite a bit as well.
I have been blogging since she was 18 months old, so a lot has happened in a year and a half of her life, including the birth of her younger sister.
When I started blogging, I was only a mother to one child and now I’m a mother of two talking about what it is like going from one to two children.
In a way, in my blog posts, I kind of document our lives in real-time while also providing tips during this parenting journey of mine.
And the latest event to happen in our lives is my daughter’s 3rd birthday.
My daughter got some good stuff for her birthday and I wanted to share it with you all in case you are looking for birthday gift ideas for your 3-year-old girls.

What To Look Forward To With A 3-Year-Old
Before I talk about the birthday gifts I got my 3-year-old daughter, let’s talk about what to look forward to when you have a 3-year-old.
Because 3 is a big age.
When your child turns 3, they are officially transitioning from being a toddler to being a preschooler.
They are in the latter phase of the toddler phase and as the year goes on, you will begin preparing them for preschool when they turn 4.
I know I cannot believe that next year I will have a preschooler, but I’m looking forward to my daughter experiencing her first day of Pre-K.
I will probably also be that parent who gets emotional because my daughter has also been home with me for her entire life.
But I know my daughter will absolutely love school.
She enjoys being around other children, learning, and reading so school will be right up her alley.
Along with this transition, there are other things that you can look forward to when your child turns 3 such as potty training.
If you haven’t already, this will be the time that you can start potty training your little ones because most 3-year-olds are showing signs that they are ready.
We were able to potty train my daughter at 2 and a half years old and she has been doing really well every since including staying dry at night.
- Being able to walk backward and a line
- Balance on a low balancing beam
- Skip/Gallop
- Pedal a tricycle
- Catch a large ball
- Jump with two feet
- Dress themselves with little assistance
- Wash and dry their hands
- Hold a writing instrument with their fingers
- Identifies shapes and colors
- Speaks in full sentences
- Understands emotions (Can’t quite regulate them yet)
So these are just a few of the things that we get to look forward to with our 3-year-olds and don’t be surprised if your child is already engaging in some of these milestones.
Now that we know what we get to look forward to, let’s get into what I got my 3-year-old daughter for her birthday.
What I Got My 3-Year-Old Daughter For Her Birthday
I’m going to start with the larger items and then work my way down to the smaller items
Ikea Kritter Junior Bed
The biggest thing that my 3-year-old daughter got for her birthday was a brand new big girl bed.
If you all read my post on transitioning my toddler to her toddler bed, then already know that she is very used to a bed that she can get in and out of by herself.
We had converted her old crib by taking off the front of it, but now that her baby sister is here, we need to put the front of it back on so she can use it.
We went to Ikea and had her help us pick out her new bed.
Our girls will be sharing a room once our baby girl gets a little older so we needed a bed that will fit in the bedroom with a crib.
And the Ikea Kritter Junior Bed is perfect.
It is bigger than a crib but also shorter than a twin bed and has a guardrail which makes it perfect for our girl.
This bed looks like it would be made for ages 3-6.
Melissa & Doug Wooden Grocery Store
The next biggest thing that my daughter got for her birthday was this Melissa & Doug Wooden Grocery Store.
My parents actually got this for her and they are so glad that they did because it has already been a hit in our home.
Whenever we went to the library or a children’s museum where they had a grocery store setting, she would always go over there and act like she was shopping in the store.
She has probably picked that up from me because we go to the grocery store all the time and now with this, she can have her own store at home.
She already has a Kidkraft Kitchen and now she has a grocery store that she can shop at to make food in her kitchen.
Minnie Mouse Bicycle With Training Wheels
Along with the grocery store, my daughter could not contain her excitement when she saw that we had gotten her a bike for her birthday.
She has been telling us that she wanted a bike like the big kids she sees riding around our neighborhood so my husband and I agreed that this would be the year we would do it.
My daughter loves Minne Mouse so we knew that we would be getting her a Minnie Mouse bike.
This bike is made for kids ages 3-5 years old and the training wheels can be taken off later.
Minnie Mouse Roller Skates
Another item that my daughter received to wheel around is these Minnie Mouse Roller Skates.
Since my daughter is 3 now, she is now at the age where she can play with a lot more toys that require a little skill such as balance.
These skates are made for little girls to be able to put on with their regular tennis shoes and strapped onto the skates.
I also love that these skates come with knee pads as well to protect her little knees when she falls.
Ikea Train Set
The next item I got my daughter for her birthday was this Train Set from Ikea.
One of the fun places that I love to take my daughter to is the children’s museum and she loves the railroad tracks and trains there.
She puts the tracks together and will wheel her train all around the tracks, I mentally noted to get her small train set.
This train set is the perfect size with 20 pieces at Ikea.
Melissa & Doug Get Well Doctor’s Kit Play Set
My doctor has been showing a lot of interest in role-playing as she gets older.
When she turned 2, she started playing with baby dolls and still loves to play with them but I have noticed her paying attention to the doctor whenever we do go.
She is aware of certain tools that the doctor uses and likes to pretend that she is a doctor.
So I knew that she would love this Melissa & Doug Doctor Kit.
The Observer Play Kit by Lovevery
I like to get my daughter things that she will like, but I also like to get things that she can also learn from as well.
This is why when we were gifted this box from Lovevery, I was ecstatic.
If you have not heard of Lovevery and you are a mom, then you are going to absolutely love what they stand for and the type of toys that they make.
They originally offered products for ages 0-2, but they recently extended their lines to include ages 0-4 for older toddlers and preschoolers.
Their products are unique and have a Montessori aspect to them that helps fuel your child’s imagination and brain development.
My daughter got The Observer Box which is made for Months 37, 38, and 39 for toddlers who just turned 3 and she absolutely loves it.
The Observer Box includes:
- Plan Ahead Weather Board
- Modular Playhouse w/ wooden accessories
- Two-Seater Car
- Left & Right Shoe Stickers
- Wooden Emotions Dolls
- Emotion Book Set
SpringFlower See & Spell Matching Letter Toy
As I said above, my daughter will be off to preschool next year so it is time to start preparing her for preschool.
She knows her colors, shapes, and can count from 1-10 pretty well, but the alphabet is a lot harder for her so I wanted to get her something to start working on the alphabet.
This educational toy is made for ages 3-6 and comes with a small bag to store all the cards and letters in.
Colorful Doodle & Drawing Eraseable Pad
This was a very unique gift that my daughter received from my sister.
This small tablet has a pen attached to it that allows your child to draw and scribble all over this tablet and then the button at the bottom will erase what they have created so they can draw some more.
I love that this item is mess-free and avoids the waste of paper that most coloring books cause.
It is also portable which makes it perfect for car rides and restaurants.
Melissa & Doug Sticker Pad
And the last item my 3-year-old daughter got her birthday was a new Melissa & Doug Sticker Pad.
If you got caught my post on some play-based activities that I like to do with my daughter, then you already know my daughter loves stickers.
But like most toddlers who like stickers, when you give her a roll of stickers, they wind up everywhere from the walls and even on me.
That is why I like the Melissa & Doug Sticker Pads.
The stickers are made to stick to pages in the book and cannot be stuck onto anything else.
These pads can keep her occupied for at least 30 minutes which is a lot of time when you are a mom.

These are awesome ideas! We recently transitioned my 2 year old son to a twin bed and he loves it! For his 3rd birthday next year, we’re actually going on an Alaskan cruise, so we’re gonna get a tablet so he can read books and watch his favorite shows at sea.

These are great ideas! When it comes to birthday gifts for kids, personalised children’s books come to mind. Personalised books are a fun and easy option for gift giving. You’ll create a unique story with their name, image, and other details, printed and bound like any other book. It’s a fun story and a keepsake they’ll treasure for many years to come. In case you’re wondering, I got mine at personalisedchildrensbooks.com
