Natural Ways To Stop Overthinking And Relax Your Mind

Don’t you just wish we all could just stop overthinking and relax?

Is anybody else here guilty of overthinking and second-guessing everything?

If you are looking for an example, just ask yourself if you are that person when asked what you want to eat, you can’t decide and ultimately just give up trying to figure it out and lets someone else decide.

Making decisions is the worst as an overthinker.

I know. I know. I’m probably talking to the ladies here, but figuring out what to eat feels like a really important task when the pressure is on you to choose for everybody else.

I can only speak for myself, but I know I am not the only person who does this.

Another example is when it comes to doing a project and every little detail has to be perfect. A lot of overthinkers are usually perfectionists as well.

Every little thing has to be perfect or you just feel like throwing the whole project away.

Those are just a couple of examples of overthinking, but this way of negative thinking can really be stressful and leave you unable to break free from those self-limiting thoughts.

I know I wish I could just relax my mind from overthinking, but that is usually much easier said than done.

I have been on the hunt for some natural ways to relieve stress and anxiety which in turn will help with some of those overthinking behaviors.

These ways have been working for me and have allowed me to take back control with more positive thinking patterns.

Here are some natural ways to stop overthinking and relax your mind.

Is There Such A Thing As Too Much Thinking?

Before we dive into some ways to cope with overthinking, this is actually a really good question.

Can you really think too much?

I mean obviously, there are situations that require us to think and we should take the time to think about what we should do versus just jumping right into the action.

And then there are situations that call for us to be quick and act because we don’t have all the time in the world to sit just there and think.

When it comes to planning, we should think about the different scenarios that can occur and the possible consequences.

But according to Tati from Be Calm With Tati, when thinking is incessant, pointless, and does not change what you do, how you do it, or the world around you, then it becomes overthinking.

Overthinking can look like this:

  • Constant worrying
  • Obsessive planning
  • Procrastinating
  • Replaying events from the past
  • Trying to see into the future
  • Over-analyzing present situations

Overthinking can often lead to feeling anxious and stressed if it is not handled. So in order to confront this fearful mindset, we have to equip ourselves with the tools to start relaxing our minds.

CBD

So CBD has become a thing nowadays and from all the benefits that the experts have been saying, you can use CBD oil for overthinking

I was always a little skeptical of using CBD until I was contacted by Receptra Naturals.

This company specializes in all-natural CBD products that not only work but have helped thousands of people who may be suffering and are in need of some serious relief.

They value quality, trust, and transparency in regard to customer service to make sure they deliver products that provide serious relief, relaxation, and rest.

So when they reached out, I knew I had to give it a try and I must say I am impressed.

The product line that I really like is the Daytime Seriously Relax line.

These products are perfect for an over-thinker such as me and are able to provide relief from everyday worries in trying to remain calm as a stay-at-home mom of a toddler.

You can either take this product through gel capsules or liquid drops.

I choose the liquid drops route since I wanted to try it for a couple of weeks before I shared my experience with you guys.

You can start slow if you are hesitant and then as you become more used to it, take a little bit more.

The aim should always be to feel better, not worse.

And I can say it definitely made me feel better.

Now, that I have gotten your attention on possibly trying this company out, head over to Receptra Naturals to give it a try.

This is the sign you have been looking for to give CBD a chance if you had been thinking about it.

Aromatherapy

Diffusing essential oils is another way to relax your brain from overthinking.

Essential oils have become another popular thing to do when you are feeling stressed and need some relief. And there are so many different kinds of scents for different needs.

I have a diffuser in my kitchen and one in our bedroom.

The diffuser that I have in my kitchen diffuses orange and lemon throughout the day for energy. The diffuser that I have in our bedroom diffuses lavender and eucalyptus for sleep and stress relief.

Another way to utilize aromatherapy for your benefit is through a pillow mist. I’m a big fan of using pillow mists on my pillows and sheets before I go to bed every night.

I struggle with insomnia as a new parent so inhaling lavender while I sleep puts my mind at ease.

Meditation

Meditation is a great way to clear your mind and decrease any anxious thoughts.

When you really master the art of breathing and bringing your focus to the present, it can be powerful.

As a mom with a toddler running around all day saying “Ma-Ma,” meditation can be hard to come by. I completely get that.

For my mommas, this is something you would want to do before the kiddos wake up or before you go to the bed at night.

A good place to start learning is by going to a quiet place in your home and sitting with your legs crossed. Diffuse some oils to get in the mood. Then just start breathing.

Inhale for 5 seconds.

Exhale for 5 seconds.

And repeat.

There are many apps that you download on your phone and YouTube videos you can watch if you are looking for further guidance.

Hot Shower/Bath

Some people take a shower or a bath to think, but it is also a place to get some peace to clear your mind.

There is a reason that the sound of water is often a sound you will hear on a sound machine. Water is soothing and can provide a sense of peace. From the sound to the touch to the taste.

I savor my shower time now as a first-time mom.

It is one of the few times I get to myself and can get some self-care in.

If you are able to or during a time when the kiddos are asleep, just get in the shower and let the water just wash over you.

And let it take those anxious thoughts with it down the drain.

Or when you are in the bathtub soaking in your worry and doubt.

Once you are done, open the drain to let the water out and let all of that go down with it.

Don’t underestimate the power of water and what it can do for your overall mental health.

Scalp/Body Massage

Whether you are giving yourself a scalp massage or allowing someone to give you a body massage, it will instantly release all those feel-good vibes throughout your body.

You have no choice but to stop overthinking and relax.

Scalp massages can easily be achieved when you are in the shower washing your hair.

When you are shampooing your hair, take a little extra time to really rub your scalp and massage.

Not only does this feel good, but it will stimulate your scalp too which in turn stimulates those hair follicles.

If you are allowing someone to give you a body massage, have them use an oil that will really soak into your skin and give you that glow that we are all looking for this summer.

And what better oil to use than Receptra Naturals Body Oil from their Seriously Relax line.

It’s light wearing and lightly scented which is the perfect combination in body oil.

Fresh Air

And of course, you can never go wrong with just getting some good ole fresh air. Step outside when life gets too overwhelming inside.

When my daughter starts getting too rowdy from being cooped inside too long, it is time to head outside so we all can get some fresh air.

You can never go wrong with outdoor play in my house.

With this Texas heat in the middle of the summer, being outside will definitely wear her out much sooner than I can. So, I let her have it.

As the sun starts to set in the evenings, we even take walks to really get in some quality time bonding together as a family.
