Easy Ways To Look Put Together As A Stay At Home Mom

As a stay-at-home mom, I want to look put together and polished while I’m home taking care of my daughter and the house.

I know that quarantine has had all of us looking a little frumpy these days with us being home and not really getting the chance to go out.

I could be just talking about myself here, but when you get used to being at home, you kind of just get lazy about the way that you look.

And why should you care right?

If I’m not leaving the house that often, why I do need to get dressed just to be at home?

That is the million-dollar question that many moms are facing today.

I mean when you really think about it whether you are working from home, chasing your little ones around all day, or doing housework, it just feels easier to do that in your pajamas.

And don’t get me wrong.

It is definitely easier to do just that, but how productive do you really feel when you are in your pajamas?

I don’t want to do much of anything when I am in my pajamas except take a nap or go to bed.

But I can’t nap all day with a toddler running around.

Knowing this, I made it a point to get out of my pajamas every day and start looking more polished while I’m home with my toddler.

If you are looking for some easy ways to look put together and polished as a stay-at-home mom, then just keep reading.

Do I Have To Get Dressed As A Stay At Home Mom?

Before I get into how I look put together as a stay-at-home mom, let’s answer this question.

Do you have to get dressed as a stay-at-home mom?

I mean you don’t have to, but you should.

In the tips that I provide below, a recurring theme that you will see me talk about is productivity.

When you intentionally make the effort to get out of your pajamas and change into something else, you are kickstarting your brain to get to work.

By getting dressed, you are checking off one task and now you are ready to take on more tasks throughout the day.

When I was battling with postpartum depression as a first-time mom, I would be in pajamas all day long and my mood suffered greatly.

I did not like what I had become and was struggling to love the body that gave me my baby.

One of the first things that I did to start shifting my mood was getting dressed daily.

After I woke up, I would make my bed and start getting myself together.

As I continued to do this daily, I noticed that I started feeling better and more like myself.

I gradually surfaced from feeling depressed as a stay-at-home mom and starting looking forward to each day with my baby and making the best of it.

That is the power of what getting dressed while home with your kids can do for you.

It is great for your overall mental well-being.

Now that I have answered that question of whether you should get dressed as a stay-at-home mom, let’s get into some easy ways to look put together and polished while home.

Easy Ways To Look Put Together As A Stay At Home Mom

Have A Daily Skincare Routine

One of the first things you can do to look put together as a stay at home is to have a daily skincare routine

During my morning routine, once I have gotten out of and made the bed, I head into the bathroom to start my skincare routine.

It is easier to neglect our skin while we are young because we don’t see how it will look in 10 – 20 years, so we need to take care of it now.

Dirt and other things in the air will collect on your skin and clog your pores even when you are home all day.

I wash my face every morning and have a step-by-step routine that I follow every morning.

My skincare routine is as follows:

  • Cleanse
  • Tone
  • Eye Cream
  • Serum
  • Moisturizer w/ SPF

Taking care of my skin is not only rewarding for my skin, but it also makes me feel good to know that I’m doing something for myself.

Put On Makeup (If You Want)

This leads me to my next tip on looking more polished as a stay at home is to put on a little makeup if you want/

And I want to emphasize if you want here.

Some of us ladies could care less about putting on makeup and that is ok.

That was why I emphasized taking your skin first.

But for some women, putting on makeup not only enhances their beauty but makes them feel better too.

When some women put on makeup, it gives them the confidence to face the day and tackle their to-do lists.

I know when I put on a little bit of makeup, I feel very productive and like an organized stay-at-home mom who has it together.

And when it comes to makeup, less is more in my opinion since I’m mostly home.

I normally groom and do my eyebrows, put on some face powder, mascara, and some lipgloss and I’m good to go every day.

Style Your Hair

Once you have done your makeup (or not), then it is time to do something with your hair.

I do not advise walking around with bed head all day.

And for my fellow ladies who wear bonnets and scarves to bed, please take them off.

You don’t have to walk around all day with your bonnet still on.

I know you are thinking why should I take off my bonnet or do my hair if I am going to be home all day?

Well once again, how effective are you when your hair hasn’t at least been combed or brushed?

Would you go to work with your hair everywhere? Or answer a Zoom call with a bonnet or scarf on?

I going to take a chance and say you wouldn’t.

Now, I’m not saying that you have to go all out and do some extensive hairstyle because the reality is you are home most of the day.

But you should definitely put a comb or brush through it at some point, even if it’s to brush it into a bun or ponytail.

Styling your hair gives you a more polished appearance and therefore makes you look more put together.

Get Dressed

The next thing I do once I have done my hair is get dressed.

Getting dressed is an absolute must.

Take off those pajamas that you had slept in all night and trade them in for some presentable clothes.

Once again I am not talking about anything fancy or something that is uncomfortable to wear while you are moving around the house.

This should also be something that you can leave the house in if you had to.

When trying to choose the clothes that I’m going to wear for the day, a wrinkly top just won’t do.

I barely iron my clothes when I leave the house so I am definitely not going to iron my clothes when I am home.

But if you are wanting to look more polished while home, you have got to get rid of those wrinkles.

This is where my friends over at Tom and Sherri’s come in.

They literally created an all-natural way to remove wrinkles within a few minutes without an iron. They created a formula called Iron In A Bottle.

This lightly scented product is all-natural, nontoxic, and plant-based.

All you have to do is hang your shirt up and spray a few inches away from your shirt until it is a little damp.

Give your shirt a little shake and smooth your shirt in a downwards motion to release those wrinkles.

Sounds pretty cool right.

No more frumpy, unproductive mom and bring on the mom who is thriving within motherhood.

And to sweeten the deal (and you know I love a deal), they were kind of enough to provide my viewers with a coupon code to save even more.

If you use the code JASMYN15%OFF, you can save an additional 15% off when you use my link here.

Accessorize

And the last easy way to look put together as a stay-at-home mom is to accessorize.

We all know that accessories are what really make an outfit pop.

But at the same time since we are home, so we don’t want to be doing too much.

You can accessorize your hair with a cute headband or scrunchie or even a hair clip.

When it comes to jewelry, you obviously don’t want to wear anything bulky or heavy.

Usually some nice studs or small earrings in your ears, maybe a ring or two, and a watch will do the trick.

I normally just wear my wedding ring, a small dainty necklace, and my apple watch every day and I’m ready to go.

.
