What I Got My 6-Month-Old Baby Girl For Christmas

With the holiday upon us, I’m starting to figure out what to get my 6-month-old baby girl for Christmas.

This will be her very first Christmas and I’m so excited for her to be able to experience this time of year and us get to celebrate as a family of 4.

Christmas is my favorite holiday, so I like to treat it as such.

I know with my first daughter, I did and might have even gone a little overboard.

I don’t know what it is about shopping for my girls, but I can not get enough of it.

It doesn’t even have to be Christmas time and I’m wanting to get them anything I see that I think would look cute on them or think they would play with.

I want to buy everything in sight, but I have definitely learned with time that a bunch of the stuff that I wind up buying ends up collecting dust in the corner after a month or two.

So knowing this, I will be taking a more minimal approach to Christmas shopping for my 6-month-old baby girl that will include some toys that will further her development and a couple of things that she actually needs.

What Can A 6-Month-Old Baby Do?

Before I get into what I got my baby girl for Christmas, let’s talk about what to expect from a 6-month-old so we have an idea of what to get.

Because at 6 months, there is a lot happening developmentally.

So there is room to get things that are developmentally appropriate for a 6-month-old.

If you all have been following along on the blog, then you know I recently did a blog post on some developmental activities that you can do with a 4 month-old.

And I talked about what to expect with a 4-month-old there.

So not only is your little one expanding on those skills from a couple of months ago, they are learning some new ones as well.

According to Verywell Family, there are a few things to look forward to such as:

Some 6-months-old are even trying to pull themselves up and stand up.

So as you can see, there is a lot to look forward to with a 6-month-old.

My daughter is engaging in a lot of the things that were mentioned above, so when it comes to getting her gifts for Christmas, I want to keep this in mind.

Now that we know what a 6-month-old is capable of doing, let’s get what into what I got my 6-month-old baby girl Christmas.

Christmas Gifts For My 6-Month-Old Baby Girl

The Sensor Play Kit by Lovevery

The very first Christmas gift that I got my 6-month-old baby girl is The Sensor Play Kit by Lovevery.

If you have been following along on the blog, then you already know that I’m a big fan of Lovevery.

My 3-year-old already gets their play kits so I knew that I wanted to give my baby girl a chance to try them too.

This particular kit is made for babies between 5 and 6 months old with the intention to build their sensory skills.

The Senser Kit contains:

  • Spinning Rainbow
  • Magic Tissue Box w/ Magic Tissues
  • Organic Cotton Rainbow Ball
  • Play Socks
  • Tummy Time Wobbler
  • “Parts of Me” Book

If I had to guess my baby’s favorite toys from this kit it is the Tummy Time Wobbler and Spinning Rainbow.

She loves to reach for the wobbler and spin the rainbow wheel.

Lovevery Sensory Strands

Another item that I got from Lovevery was these Sensory Strands.

If you checked out some of the developmental activities that I do with my baby girl, then you know that I already own the Play Gym from Lovevery.

These strands are an add-on that you can put on the Play Gym.

This product is not only great for smaller babies who are laying on their backs so they can reach and grab the different strands.

But it also works for babies who are sitting as well.

This is a great add-on that I’m looking forward to adding to our Play Gym for my baby girl.

Hape Wooden Rattle Rainmaker

The next toy I got my baby girl is the Wooden Rainmaker by Hape.

A pattern that you will notice in this gift guide is that I’m big on wooden and Montessori-inspired toys for babies and kids.

I noticed that wooden toys are a lot more durable and easier to keep clean and my older daughter genuinely enjoys these types of toys, so I’m will be following that same approach with my baby girl.

This toy is meant for little hands to hold and shake about.

This toy is made for ages 0 months and up.

Baby Einstein Magic Touch Wooden Drum

Another musical toy I got was this Wooden Drum Toy by Baby Einstein.

When I came across this wooden drum on Amazon, I just knew that I had to snag it for my baby girl.

From the colors to the different sounds it makes, I knew it would be a hit.

This toy is made for ages 6 months and up.

Baby Einstein Magic Touch Wooden Piano

Another hot item that I got from Baby Einstein was this Magic Touch Piano as well.

This piano also goes with the drums mentioned above.

I envision my baby girl on her tummy playing with the drums and then when she is sitting playing on the piano.

This is an item that I can also see being used well into toddlerhood as well.

This toy is also made for 6 months and up.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Soft Book

Moving away from the wooden toys, I also wanted to get some soft textured toys that she can gnaw on and feel the different textures.

Starting with this soft, teething counting book featuring the classic Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Obviously, babies are more interested in putting books in their mouths than reading but this soft book gives the opportunity for both.

It crinkles, squeaks, and has a clip on it that makes it great for on the go.

This is a great first book for babies.

Baby Einstein Explore & Discover Soft Blocks

Another soft item that I got was these soft blocks by Baby Einstein.

You can probably tell by now that I like Baby Einstein products.

I love how a lot of their products are geared toward sensory development and not just a piece of plastic that flashes lights and makes sounds.

I bought a lot of stuff like that for my older daughter and saw she would play with those things for a little bit and then be bored with it.

So I focus on things that are more sensory-oriented and get those kinds of things.

These blocks are perfect for that because they are really soft and on each side, there is a different texture for your baby to feel and touch.

These blocks are made for babies 3 months and up.

Baby Einstein Octopus Water Play Mat

Another cool item that I came across was this Water Play Mat by Baby Einstein as well.

This is a great tummy time activity that I know my baby girl will love.

You will fill it with water and as your little one presses down on the mat, it moves the items in the mat all around.

Another great sensory item for your baby and it’s made for babies 3 months and up.

Baby Einstein Discovery Activity Center

The biggest gift that my baby girl will be getting this year is this Discovery Activity Center by Baby Einstein.

She is currently using this activity center by Fisher-Price which we love, but after being passed down for the 3rd time, I figured it was time to get her something different.

This particular activity center is a 4-n-1 that can be used for sitting and standing and has removable toys with it.

So when your baby outgrows the seat part, you can remove that part, and you are left with a table that your walking toddler can walk around and still play with.

It has different activities all the way around it that when your baby is sitting in the seat part, they can spin it around and access it.

Activity centers are a great investment since they can be used for a long time and I’m hoping this activity center will last as long as the first one we had.

This activity center is made for ages 6 months and up.

Munchkin Trainer Sippy Cups

Those are the toys that my baby girl will be getting, so now I want to shift to the items that she will need and the first items I want to mention are these Trainer Sippy Cups by Munchkin.

I used these cups with my first daughter when we began transitioning her to cups and she loved them.

The handles on the side are perfect for little hands to grab and the spout is soft for your baby to suck on.

I’m hoping that baby girl will also love these cups as we get her started on drinking from sippy cups.

These sippy cups are made for ages 4 months and up.

Summer Infant Bath Seat

If you all read up on my newborn must-haves, then you know I used this Reclined Bath Tub by Skip Hop.

Which I absolutely love and highly recommend, but as our baby girl has gotten older and shown signs of wanting to sit up in the bathtub, I knew that it was time to transition to something else.

That is why I elected to get her a bath seat that supports her while she is sitting in the bathtub.

The one that I went with was this Bath Seat by Summer Infant.

It is made for ages 5 months to 10 months.

Wearable Blankets

And the last Christmas gift I’m getting my 6-month-old baby is wearable blankets.

If your baby is anything like mine, then if you try to put a blanket over them, they will pull the blanket up and possibly cover their face doing so.

To solve that issue, I started getting my baby wearable blankets that will keep her warm at night and I don’t have to worry about the blanket winding up on her face.

This was also a product I used with my first daughter and I used it until she started pulling herself up.

I like to use the wearable blankets by Carter’s.
